Backslash Records is the voice of the independent artist who pursues the artistic dream of distributing their musical compositions throughout the world. The "Backslash" name represents the rise of the Internet as a worldwide media propagation tool allowing artists to share their music with those who may otherwise never have had the opportunity to listen to their tracks.

Backslash Records is an entity created as this voice by Aldo Leopardi initially as his own recording label. This freed him from the conventional channels most artists feel compelled to follow. Traditional marketing paths often lead talented musicians to incur rejection and frustration with regards to the current business practices within the industry. The Backslash Records label has allowed Aldo to escape the marketing pigeon holes where artists are filtered by what demographic qualities drive sales rather than the quality of the product produced.

In addition to Aldo Leopardi, Backslash Records hosts Dave Astaire, another very talented South Australian artist (catch his tracks including "Love Hate" @ www.myspace.com/daveastaire). Backslash remains open to exploring the addition of more artists in the future.
